ENFSI Online Membership Meeting
The annual meeting of the directors and permanent representatives of forensic laboratories and institutes associated in the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) took place on November 18, 2020.
One day meeting, organized in the form of videoconference by the General Commission of Scientific Police (Comisaria General de Policia Cientifica) primarily served to discuss the current affairs of the Network, including ensuring the continuity of EU funding in order to develop research methods using the latest scientific achievements. The substantive part of the meeting was devoted to the presentation of new trends in forensic science, such as the use of biometrics and artificial intelligence (AI), continuous improvement of interpretation methods resulting in obtaining reliable results, increasing the objectivity of research methods, the need to ensure electronic chain of evidence with the use of innovative techniques of virtual presenting of expert opinions. The importance of the incident scene investigation in the context of the necessity to develop and apply digital techniques of documenting the scene in real time was also emphasized.
Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police was represented by col. dr Radosław Juźwiak, the Director, and Agnieszka Łukomska, adviser of the Scientific Development Department.
