VISIT OF REPRESENTATIVE OF TELEFI PROJECT IN THE CENTRAL FORENSIC LABORATORY OF THE POLICE

The meeting of employees and experts of Anthroposcopy Unit of the Document Examination and Audiovisual Techniques Department of the Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police with the representative of TELEFI project, Anthony Laird from Finland, took place on 26 February 2020.

TELEFI (Towards the European Level Exchange of Facial Images) project aims to collect information on practices used in identification processes based on facial images and the use of automatic image recognition systems for investigative purposes in the European Union countries.  In addition, the study devotes special attention to the possibilities of implementing image exchange as part of the PRÜM agreement. During the visit of the project representative, the comments and observations on the above mentioned issues were discussed. The ideas presented by the CFLP experts constituted Polish contribution to the project, which will ultimately result in a broad and possibly accurate recognition of the current situation of using facial images for identification purposes in the European Union. The meeting was attended by Ewa Lewandowska, Deputy Head of Document Examination and Audiovisual Techniques Department, Dariusz Zajdel, Maria Szumilas-Wiśniewska and Marta Parol of this Department.
