MEETING IN FINLAND AS PART OF AFORE “ACCREDITATION OF FORENSIC LABORATORIES IN EUROPE” PROJECT
First meeting of participants of AFORE Accreditation of forensic laboratories in Europe project, financed from the International Security Program ISF-P (MP2018), took place on 27—30 January 2019 in National Bureau of Investigation in Vantaa, Finland. The Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police was represented by col. Lt. Piotr Trojanowski, Crime Scene Officers Manager and Agnieszka Łukomska, adviser to the Scientific Development Department.
Main assumption of the work package, with the CFLP contribution, is preparing European countries to initiate the process of accreditation of on crime scene activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020 Conformity assessment. Requirements for the competence of bodies performing inspection and implementation of quality assurance system covering the work of crime scene officers. As part of the project, European model of accreditation for a crime scene activities will be developed. The first meeting, attended also by the representatives from forensic laboratories in Estonia, Norway, Germany and Finland, was aimed at determining further directions of activities under the project, clarifying tasks for individual members and discussing of existing norms and standards used at the stage of collection of forensic evidence at the crime scene.
