31st meeting of European Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice – eu-LISA EURODAC Advisory Group took place on 4 December 2019 in Tallinn, Estonia. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the European Union member countries, the European Commission and eu-LISA Agency. Poland was represented by Małgorzata Walecka, specialist in Fingerprint Examination Department of CFLP.

The issues under discussion were related to the functioning of EURODAC system and actions taken by eu-LISA in terms of maintenance and development of the infrastructure of the operationally managed SIS II, VIS, EURODAC and EES central systems, as well as preparations for ETIAS implementation. The draft of Work Program for years 2021-2023 was accepted. The activities of the Biometric Working Group subgroup of technical experts, working on the use of biometric data in the Agency managed systems were discussed. Eu-LISA representative informed about the project to identify a common tool for examining the quality of fingerprints and facial image, adopted to the needs of Member States. Standardization of the fingerprint collection tool will constitute a huge step towards entering high-quality biometric data into the central system. The Multi-System Security/BC Exercise, planned for 2020, aimed at examining security and ensuring the continuity of operation of eu-LISA managed system was also discussed.
