VISIT TO GEORGIA AS PART OF THE CEPOL EXCHANGE PROGRAM

On 1—6 September 2019, as the part of CEPOL law enforcement officers exchange program, lt.col. Piotr Trojanowski, CFLP Crime Scene Officer Manager, paid a visit to Forensic-Criminalistics Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The main purpose of the visit was to become familiar with the organization and standards of the laboratory as well as the work of officers performing activities at the site of the incident. In addition, the Georgian side presented methods of pre-trial documentation of crime scene investigation, selected methods of detection and recovery of forensic traces, as well as monitoring the chain-of-custody of the evidence. Georgian forensic laboratory performs forensic research in the field of: fingerprints, firearms, toolmarks, chemistry and osmology. Works are underway to create a unit of forensic genetics (DNA) research and bloodstain pattern analysis.
