27th MEETING OF THE EUROPEAN TEXTILE AND HAIR GROUP ENFSI WORKING GROUP
On 5—7 June 2019 the 27th meeting of European Textile and Hair Group ENFSI associated members of the working group, i.e. experts in the field of microtraces examination, representing police forensic laboratories, research institutes and universities from Europe, USA, Australia and Singapore took place in Dublin (Ireland).
Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police was represented by major Katarzyna Razarenkow, expert from the Chemistry Department , who – as part of the “Bring cases” thematic block classes – presented the results of research entitled “Study of selected textile fibers before and after the aging process, including analysis of variability of morphology and chemical composition” conducted in the Chemistry Department CFLP. As every year, the meeting was devoted to discussing the activity of the above group in the field of development of updated guidelines for trace evidence examination, thematic workshops on the interpretation of final conclusions of the forensic opinion on fiber research, research projects carried out as part of international cooperation and the presentation of interesting case studies made as part of forensic opinions. During the meeting, the results of interlaboratory competence test in the field of comparative identification of contact fibers in which the CFLP obtainted positive result were also presented and discussed. The Chemistry Department of the CFLP will organize the next year’s meeting of the above group, scheduled for 2—4 June 2020.
